She hated the way the moment the plane touched down in the Southern California area she could feel the sweat on her body stick to her shirt. She hated how she could feel the glance of strangers as they saw her pick up her bags from the baggage claim. She kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. Her hair in a tight bun making her look and feel older than her twenty three years on this earth . . . Everyone else looked ready for vacation with loose shirts and shorts. She wore a plaid dress and flats. People passing her like they saw a ghost. Maybe this was her own fears though . . . When you spend so long on the outside. Being on the inside is a little weird.

Gazing up at them as their heart screams “it's you, the person my heart has been waiting for.” you sit there, a chance you have met them before. Whether it was in passing on a busy road or it was in another lifetime where the two of you had been connected. You sit in wonder, allowing yourself to be in a full moment of love. The love is instant, it's bold and beautiful. But sometimes your soulmate gets off on the wrong foot. A look of a wide eyed gaze looking up at you. It's a game of tug of war. Where it's back and forth over and over again. Because here is where you sit. All amazed at all that has happened. You yearn for the familiarity of a soulmate to come, but at the same time you wonder if it's worth it.
If the jump is worth it if you know you're going to fall.

They would be sitting in a hotel room, during a case when Derek Morgan who he was rooming with would flip over on his side. Turning to Spencer. “Do you ever wonder if your soulmate is out there?” He’d ask, and he sounded profound. Derek thought about his soulmate more than anyone else on the team. Believing in some way that a soulmate would help him, whether it was help him realize he could take care of someone, or help him realize that staying alive could be enough.
“Of course they are. Or we wouldn’t have these markings.” Spencer would find himself responding, and Derek would roll his eyes.
He would sigh for a moment before speaking, his tone tense. “What I mean is. Do you think they might be closer than you’re actually thinking…” he paused, cautious with how he worded it around the boy genius. There were a lot of times where Spencer did think his soulmate was a lot closer than he believed. The kind woman in the building with the cat, the man who knew his coffee order… and the woman on tech support with marks on her hand in the same place his were. But what he knew right now was he couldn’t hope, couldn’t wish.

The thing that makes him stop is when his horse needs some time to rest. He placed her into a shelter for the night and allowed her to rest. A storm is destined to approach, and he couldn’t get caught in another. As he entered the second bar of that week he walked around. Seeing a tall bartender and his shorter wife. The place Athena's he predicted was named after that couple in some way. And his guess was right as he walked around. A man sweet talking to some of the rich as he mingled. If he was there for any other reason, he would have applauded the man. But he wondered. Could this have been the man he was looking for.

Summary
As each of the girls make their way into the plane, Lottie can’t help but notice, she doesn’t have the place in the world each of the girls seem to have. Each person has their own person. From Jackie and Shauna fitting perfectly together, like a puzzle. To Taissa and Van who you’d have to be blind to not notice the looks they share. Natalie in some way has Misty. But Lottie - she feels like she just has herself. Friends floating in and out of her life.

Spoilers for up to 5x09 Past is Prologue
Buck quickly unwinds the elastic bands, and starts sifting through the post. There's at least one utility bill, two junk mail leaflets that he’ll recycle later, and a note from the sorting office apologising for the delay, but the rest are postcards. All with a variety of images on the front, landscapes and animals, some with place names, some not, some with great paragraphs of text on the back, while others barely have more than Buck’s address.
And all of them signed with his sister’s name.
His fingers can't help but ghost over the paper—drifting over the familiar handwriting, as if he were afraid that he might smudge the precious ink that sits there. He tries to swallow past the lump in his throat before turning on his heel and running back up to his apartment—his plans all but forgotten in his pursuit of reading them all as quickly as he can.

Buck hasn’t heard from Maddie in weeks, and just when he’s had enough of climbing the walls, and he's moments away from going searching for his sister himself; the postcards arrive, all at once.
