Summary
Yuna knows Shane is going to hate this. Hell, she hates it and she's the one suggesting it. But she squares her shoulders, ties her hair back, turns off the television, and turns to her son on the couch. She tells him, "We're trying hockey today."
Shane, as she expected, explodes.
He's 4 years old. He explodes about everything.
A big part of that is just how much energy and need for routine he has—who ever heard of a 4-year-old wanting routines?—which is why they're trying hockey today.

Irina knows Ilya is going to love this. She loves it, and that's why she's suggesting it. She ties her hair back with a kerchief and tugs a jacket over her shoulders before going to fetch him from his room. She tells him, "We're trying hockey today."
Ilya, as she expected, explodes with glee.
He's 4 years old. Everything is still magical to him.
Irina is grateful Ilya still sees the world as magic—she will preserve that magic for him as long as she can—so she has someone to share it with.

Summary
"Uh, so when Shane gets past tipsy into drunk, if you don’t keep an eye on him, he’ll just kinda run off and disappear. Like actually run.” Hayden rubs at the back of his neck. “Fast. You gotta make sure not to let him even go to the bathroom alone or you’ll lose him before you know it, and once he’s gone it’s gonna be a whole thing to find him."
Shane is indeed very fast, Ilya knows, but while Shane may currently be winning their races on ice, Ilya still wins on foot. That’s not the issue here. This doesn’t sound like Shane at all, so he decides it must be that Hayden is exaggerating and has just lost track of his friend while drunk himself in the past. Shane doesn’t get drunk in public, he’s not the kind of spontaneous person to think a race is a good idea while drunk, and he certainly wouldn’t do something to worry people like disappearing.
"Okay, Hayden," Ilya says with a small scoff, patting Pike on the shoulder.
--
OR: Ilya and the Centaurs are about to learn what happens when Shane Hollander is drunk. Drunken hockey trivia is dispensed. Ilya is NOT calling Hayden damn Pike for help. Rookies compete. A goose is goosenapped. A new Centaurs tradition is born.
Run, Shane, run!

Summary
Rose volunteers for a nonprofit that rescues sex-trafficked omegas, and Shane thinks it's a great cause. He even attends their fundraising galas.
Then, one night, Rose calls to ask for a favor: She wants Shane to let a recently-rescued male omega live with him. In his apartment.
His name is Ilya, Rose explains, and the thing is, despite omega hormone levels, he acts and smells just like an alpha. He can't keep staying in an omega group home because he's scaring the other omegas and endangering the staff.
But he could live with Shane, Rose insists. "You're a big strong alpha hockey player, so he can't intimidate you physically. But also he needs to feel safe, which he can with you, because you're not like other alphas." She pauses. "You know?"
By which she means Shane has never had a full rut, his scent glands barely work, he can't form a knot, and he has no interest in sticking his dick in anyone. Which, whatever. It's fine.
But if being a failure as an alpha means he can help this omega, Ilya, who's apparently as much of a biological anomaly as Shane is…
Shane says yes.
And maybe it's a stupid decision. But he knows that it's also the right one.

Summary
The number one prospect is Ilya Rozanov, and in 2015 he gets drafted to the Boston Raiders. Shortly after, news breaks out that he’s an omega— it’s stated that no omegas are allowed to enter the NHL draft— and Ilya disappears off the face of the Earth.
Enter Shane, shocked at the news that his one-time hook up is gone. He does his best to put it out of his mind. Only, he can’t, because in Ilya’s absence, he’s traded to the Boston Raiders.
Five years down the line, Shane wins the Raiders a Stanley Cup. He and Rose are out for a celebratory dinner, when she gets a call from the shelter she volunteers at.
They’re in crisis. A large sex-trafficking ring has just been taken down, and they have too many omegas but not enough helping hands. Rose makes her way over with supplies, and Shane tags along.
That’s when Shane sees him, sitting on a bench— lips blue— and the only coherent thought he can come up with is that Ilya Rozanov really needs a blanket. Good thing he's holding one.
