Izzy kept his eyes steady on Blackbeard’s and tried not to allow his fear to get the best of him. “D’ you recall the lesson that must be taught to those who have strayed from the correct way?” Blackbeard was not looking for a response, only wanting Izzy to listen.
“Yes sir” Izzy whispered, not missing a beat as he responded quickly and dutifully.

It’s mesmerizing watching them together. Edward’s rough hands, so gentle as they smooth over Stede’s freckled shoulders. He touches Stede like he’s scared he’ll break under his hands. He’s never touched Izzy like that, never held onto him like he’s something he cherishes, something he holds dear. The thought should make Izzy angry and jealous.
