Summary
Stede Bonnet is happy for the first time in his life—he’s out, he’s no longer in contact with his horrible father, and he’s free. He’s free to live life as he wants, even if that means living in a tiny apartment with a modest income. The only downside? The cancellation of his favorite show, “Our Saloon Serves Whiskey,” starring his favorite actor, Edward “Blackbeard” Teach.
When he walks into a convenience store and sees that the jackpot for the lottery is over one billion dollars, he can’t help but wonder, what if? What if he won and was able to pay for his beloved show to return?

“This painting, where did you get it?” He snarls, brandishing his knife in its direction. The first mate gulps loudly, terror in his eyes at the abrupt change of topic.
It’s the merchant captain who answers him, his lips stumbling over the halting words.
“B-Bridgetown, Barbados sir. About five months ago. It was painted by the Widow Bonnet.”
In The Kraken’s periphery, he registers Jim’s head snap up, followed by Izzy’s a heartbeat later. Fang shifts uncomfortably on his feet. Frenchie whines. Archie watches them all with confusion written plainly on her face.
Finally, Ed begins to stir from within the inky depths of The Kraken’s soul.
Or season 2 if Ed had heard the news of Stede’s untimely death.

Summary
Stede Bonnet is dying, has been for a long time. He’s known about it for going on 12 years, an inoperable brain tumour. Yep. Right in the centre, getting its filthy little paws into all sorts of juicy parts of Stedes brain, just sitting there and causing all sorts of havoc till the day it finally finishes him off. At first the idea of death terrified him to his core but by now he’s pretty much accepted it, being terminally ill is just a part of his personality at this point, he’s learned to live with it.
It’s not until a sexy, long haired, leather clad specimen of a man comes into his life does he reconsider how fulfilling life could actually be.

Numb, Ed lets Lucius push him from the green room, all his things hastily shoved back into the bag Stede had so lovingly packed for him this afternoon before they came over here.
“Everything you’re going to need,” he’d said, at the time, giving Ed a kiss while he pushed the bag into his hands.
Ed’s eyes burn. The bag doesn’t have a single fucking thing he needs in it. The only thing he needs is Stede; nothing else fucking matters in comparison.
And Stede’s not here.
