Vernon Roche had never had any delusions about the when. He was a soldier, and he knew he would die as one sooner rather than later. But he had always hoped that the where would be kinder to him. Somewhere within the borders of Temeria, on familiar soil. But Vernon Roche was destined to die many miles from home, on the Dol Blathanna - Mount Carbon line. And the when was now.

Summary
Regis nodded. He was no great artist, though he did enjoy a bit of sketching sometimes, preferably botanical in nature, but he could understand the sentiment of need. The need to do something, say something, have something. Need was what had driven him most of his life.
After his blood brother's life was spared at Tesham Mutna, Regis sets out to find him. His journey takes him all the way to Etolia, near Nilfgaard. There, the two settle down at an abandoned farm, where Regis hopes Dettlaff may heal. Eventually, he does, and it all begins with paint.

“Look for a red-haired man in Velda.”
“Velda?” Geralt frowned. “As in the capital of Geso?”
Ewald nodded.
“Are you fucking kidding me? Halfway across the damn continent?”
“Gold knows no boundaries, as a friend of mine says.”
Geralt was inclined to wipe the smug grin off Ewald’s face with a punch. Instead, he asked, “How are we supposed to find one man in that city? Velda’s big.”
Ewald shrugged, showing just how little he cared for Geralt’s struggle. He turned and made to descend the stairs. “Maybe they’ll be able to help you at the palace. I think they’re missing a plumed purple hat there.”Geralt merely intended to spend a few quiet weeks at the Chameleon to catch up with his friends. But when the century old skull of a famous jester is stolen from Dandelion, he and Geralt set out to retrieve it, following a mysterious stranger across the Northern Realms, and even further.
