It had been eight years since the hiatus began, and Louis had spent that time writing and recording music, touring and making it safely through the pandemic. When the opportunity arose to go back on tour with One Direction, Louis knew he'd be a fool not to take it. Sure, life on the road would be different after all this time apart, but he was looking forward to experiencing that comradery again.
What he hadn't realised was that living the better part of nine months in each other's pockets was bound to dredge up issues from his past. And when one of the pockets belonged to Harry, who he'd had a rather unconventional friendship with that drifted apart during their last tour, life on the road again would upend both their lives in irrevocable ways.

Harry wasn’t that sixteen year old boy anymore. Nor was he the young man in his late teens who was on the cusp of conquering the entire world.But some traits seemed to remain the same; his vibrant green eyes, the dimples set deeply in his cheeks whenever he laughed earnestly, or his curls that were the same shade of cocoa that Louis remembered fondly.
And yet, Louis had absolutely no idea who this man that stood a mere twenty paces away was today.

“What, then?” Louis asks, taking a step closer. “I just… follow you? Live here, in the woods, and give up everything I’ve ever known?” Louis stops right in front of Harry, only a foot of distance between them. “I give up my suppressants, and my work, and all my friends and family?”
Louis’ omega doesn’t need to ask, but Louis does. The human part of himself, that’s not ruled by instinct, needs to hear it.
“I can’t tell you what to do,” Harry starts, as wise as ever. Those green eyes of his fall to Louis’ throat, where a trickle of sweat has started to slip down his skin, under the collar of his shirt. “Deep down, though, you know what you want.”

“Your majesty, is everything okay?” a man, fully covered in a black armor from head to toe, harshly opened the door.
Louis’ breath hitched, not quite registering the honorary term the man used for him but fully recognizing two things; first, the black crown of thorns on top of his head, making the dark veil that covered his face sit in place. There was a symbol on his chest, two serpents intertwined in what appeared to be a circle, who represented Orcus' connection with life and death. A reminder to everyone in the order that death was constant, and infinite.
The man who stood in front of him, tense and alert, was a knight, an Orcus’ knight. Louis took an uneven breath.
What type of nightmare was this?
Tale as old as time, a villain falls in love with an already taken hero who only wants to kill him.

Louis’ blood ran cold, already suspecting who was the alpha the earl was talking about.

Louis' stomach dropped, the words came smelling like danger, sending a bolt of fear down his spine, the Earl wanted Louis to seduce The Duke of Death.
Or Louis has to replace his (missing) twin brother and marry one of the most dangerous alphas of the kingdom.
