Summary
“Curtis, you’re up!” Curly's shout echoes across the field, tone laced with impatience, “I wanna get this done before dark!"
Darry winks as he walks past him to take mark, reaching out to ruffle Pony’s already windswept hair. “Let’s see what you’re made of, kid.”
God, it feels like he’s being sent to his death.
Or;
After a run down at the old track, Ponyboy finds himself as the new wager in one of Curly Shepard's illegal gambling events. Darry, for all that he tries to disapprove of the involvement, won't miss the opportunity to be an older brother for a change.
