Summary
Inspired by the scene from THB where Lucy admires Lockwood, trapping him under her lashes.
What if Lucy as well as sketching was inspired to write some poems, she kept them well hidden tucked under her bed in a box along with other things precious to her (the advert she found for Lockwood, her train ticket to London which signalled the start of her escape, and perhaps photographs she secretly cut out of the papers of them all)

The deep green boughs and bright red berries of a sprig of Holly, next a tiny delicate skull - Jake was no expert but he thought it might be a water vole or mole. After that a piece of broken pottery with a colourful glaze still showing on one side, then three battered old pennies all in a line on his door mat - worn smooth so no telling how old they were.
He knew now these were deliberate offerings. Who was leaving them, and why, he didn’t know at that time.

Summary
Lockwood briefly looked genuinely terrified. Yes, he might be in charge of the most successful, and famous, agency in all of London. Yes, he has faced down ghosts of the most evil souls imaginable from murderers, to cannibals. He'd gone to meet them with a grin. But holding a baby? He was still terrified of that little life in his hands, Lizzy would kill him if he dropped her and her little faced was squashed. Although she'd look a bit more like Kipps.
Kipps passed Baby Georgina so Lockwood was supporting her against his chest. One hand tucked under her tiny legs and the other Kipps guided to support her neck.
"Ermm OK so pat her gently on the back?"
"Like she's a dog, or a tiny horse," George added, somewhat unhelpfully.

ORQuill Kipps, a new father, is left holding the baby. When he struggles where does he turn? Portland Row, of course!
