Summary
University life isn't easy at all, but falling for your best friend's crush makes it even worse.
Lumine is an introvert who really don't care about parties, boys or anything that gets her in trouble. The only thing she worries about is her degree and earning her father, Dainsleif, approval. However, Lumine's plans fall apart when her best friend, Yoimiya, draggs her to these kinds of social settings. Inevitably, Lumine catches boy's attention, including Ajax.
Despite Ajax's tough life, having someone's heart has always been easy for him. His russian features and his popularity as member of The Saurians (University's hockey team) always make his approach to girls easy, but not with Lumine, who seems to be a real challenge.
Everything could be that easy, but Yoimiya's feelings and Aether's protectiveness came into play.

He catches her by the sleeve and tugs roughly. “What’s this?” he asks, lifting his head and knocking the brim of his hat back. “Hey there girlie,” he croons, his voice smooth. The grin he shoots her is something of a rapscallion, crooked and teasing. Perfect for target practice.
Lumine doesn’t like the swagger that he carries himself with or the way that he leans against the wooden fence beside the building. Too confident. Too—Ugh. “That grin on your face,” she drawls. “I don’t like that look. That’s the sort of look that gets men shot.”
Lumine (the Lady) rolls into town, invited to the Shoot-Out and its cash prize for the last one standing. The rules are simple: Any contestant may challenge any other, no challenge can be refused, every contestant must duel once per day, and a duel continues until one contestant either yields or dies. Lumine has a personal interest; her brother (the Lad) went missing a year prior at the last Shoot-Out and hasn’t been seen since. Tartaglia comes for the guts, glory, and a good fight, and over two weeks of the longest Shoot-Out on record, they fall in love.
