Summary
Mac took Murdoc’s hand. It was large and warm, the skin rough on his palm. Calluses and tiny scars littered his hand, warn in place from his chosen trade. Mac’s heart thumped suddenly and he swallowed. He wasn’t sure why he was anxious about doing this. He’d set plenty of bones before, many of them worse injuries than this one. (But, then, none of them had been on Murdoc.)

Mac wakes up in the hands of an enemy, kidnapped on an undercover op. With the Phoenix team out of reach, he has no choice but to rely on an unlikely ally. Murdoc. Mark hums again, still distracted by the rhythmic motion of thread through flesh. “He's a little early. His shift doesn't start ‘til eight.”
In his peripheral vision, he sees the nurse shift uncomfortably on her feet. “No, I mean- he isn't here to work. Apparently he fell down the stairs? He's with his father.”

Summary
He isn’t just physically broken: the events of this match have revealed more cracks and scars in Midoriya than Shouta’s seen from him the entire school year. He has potential, yes, he has so much that sometimes it feels like he’s staring out at sea and a storm is rolling in, Midoriya’s potential as a hero, spanning the horizon, coming to shake the hero world to its roots.
But that potential will never be realized if this child kills himself before then.
If he’s willing to take things this far over a school tournament, then how far will he go outside of school, when there’s no mitigating presences around? (Not that UA had been very mitigating, in this case.)
In the aftermath of the Sports Festival, Shouta realizes there is something deeply wrong with his most troublesome student and tries to help.

“Hmm… he does look a bit familiar, but I think I’ll need a little something to jog my memory.”
“What do you want, Murdoc?” MacGyver asks. “You have supervised calls with Cassian and we can’t risk giving you any items. We both remember how that ended last time.”
Murdoc grins. “My, my boy-scout, you’ve been keeping tabs on me? I’m flattered!”
MacGyver snorts, amused. “Of course, I got you here. Why wouldn’t I pay attention?”
Murdoc likes seeing this side of MacGyver, the side that likes to analyse and indulge and play. It's almost as enjoyable as the side that only comes out when he’s locked in Murdoc’s torture room.
Suddenly someone new walks into the room.
Murdoc goes to issue a greeting, but the way MacGyver reacts stops the words in his throat. MacGyver is no longer smiling. His expression closes off and he seems to curl into himself.
The woman approaches MacGyver and he immediately shrinks away. Her face is etched in... betrayal? She slams her hand against the glass and snarls. “Just tell us what we need to know, freak.”
MacGyver flinches.
Murdoc sees red.
