When he fully takes in Lance’s face, all Keith can think is, fuck no.
Because while this is Lance, Lance isn’t there. Lance’s brown eyes are glazed, lifeless, unrecognizing as they stare right past Keith. Under his eyes are heavy bags and god, he just looks so tired. His hair, slightly longer than what Keith remembers, is slicked back neatly. There’s a smile on his face. Dopey. Unsettling. Like he’s just been given the best drug in the entire universe. Maybe he has. Keith doesn’t know, and it terrifies him to think what his friend has probably gone through.
Or rather, Keith returns from the Blade only to find that Lance has been kidnapped by Galra during a mission gone wrong. Tortured and placed under mind control, the road to recovery is longer and more complex than Lance, or any of the team, could've imagined.
