Zoey opened her eyes to a familiar face. Mira was in front of her, snoring softly, one arm draped loosely around her waist. She smiled, already sinking back into the warmth of sleep. But as she shifted slightly, she became very aware of another body pressed against her back.
She sat up quickly, freaking out. Rumi was there too. Panic prickled at the edge of her thoughts as fragments from the night before slammed into her. The taste of alcohol and bile rose up her throat. She kissed Rumi, Mira also kissed Rumi. And everything’s fine, she reasoned. They’re laying down together in their bed the next morning, and they all kissed, and it’s fine.
Zoey threw up in the bathroom.

Beside him was the six-eyed black bird, perched on her dresser. He wore the same tiny top hat as always, his glowing eyes blinking one at a time like camera shutters.
“What the—”
She sat straight up, hair sticking in every direction.
“You guys?!” she hissed.
The tiger blinked. His whiskers twitched. The bird tilted his head, unimpressed.
“I—I haven’t seen you since Jinu—” she cut herself off. “What are you doing here?!”

Rumi is marked, scarred by the past. She doesn't deserve happiness, she's a demon after all. Even if she saved the world. She's still a mistake. Still something that shouldn't have been born, let alone alive. Though Mira and Zoey heavily disagree with that.
Mira is angry. Oh so fucking angry. At her parents. At Celine. At the bad demons who caused all this. At herself. But not Rumi or Zoey. Never At Rumi or Zoey.
Zoey's afraid of being too much of being alone again. So maybe she's too clingy, or too fast for people. She's kind, and funny and always so helpful even when it hurts. Mira and Rumi love her the way she is, never thinking shes too much.

She grabs Barbie’s hand, inspecting the angry red spot already blooming on the back of it. Sasha looks at it too, peering over from her side of the table, fork hanging from her mouth, and murmurs, “Gross.”
“Yeah, it’s just a bug bite,” Barbie assures. “I’ll be fine.”
