"If you could tell me where the box I'm looking for is, Ghost, I'd be done a lot faster. Then you could get back to your nap," Eijiro says, laughing at his own joke. He opens another box but comes up empty.
He moves to another corner of the room and the light above him flickers. He grabs his flashlight again and aims it down at another pile of boxes. Then, he freezes.
He blinks down at a box that has four deep scratch marks. Between the cuts, he notices the newspapers inside. Another soft growl comes, this time, it's right in front of him.
Eijiro only moves his head to look up into the dark corner of the room, following the noise. There, staring back at him, are two large, glowing scarlet eyes. In the center are two pitch black pupil slits. The eyes blink slowly, an inner lid closing before the solid lid covers them briefly. When the eyes open again, a third one right above them snaps open.
"G….Ghost?" Eijiro barely breathes out, losing all feeling in his body as the room suddenly goes cold.

This scene is familiar; Kirishima has watched Bakugo’s idly petulant face from the corner of his eye just like this for the past ten, fifteen years, though maybe their fishing poles were even smaller and flimsier back then and their toes didn’t quite reach into the cool blue water as they do now. Usually the view is comforting, nostalgic, a promise of consistency despite the way they’ve both changed over the years, but this summer is different.

He takes another punch to the gut and it feels like he’s barreling down a tall rollercoaster, breath lost to the wind as he crashes to the ground.
Eijirou heaves in a shuddering breath as his eyes snap open to sunlight. A light wind blows across his face, kicking up dirt into his eyes as he stares sideways at the world. The street is empty…eerie. Thick clouds slowly drift past, playing a game of peek-a-boo with the setting sun. His palms are scraped from his fall, little bits of gravel have lodged their way in and it stings when he puts weight on them. Just as he pushes himself onto his feet, he’s once again doubling over as a sharp pain flares from his side.
He hears a voice yelling something at him, muffled by the ringing in his ears.

Summary
Katsuki, King of Musutafu, paces his throne room as his Kingdom is under siege by none other than the vermin of the Kingdom of Shiketsu. The King's Hand, Kirishima Eijirou, has tried relentlessly to convince Katsuki to head to the safety of the bunkers, whereas Katsuki wants nothing more than to be out on the front lines, wielding his sword and protecting his castle as a good leader should.
As the last of his name and with no heir to take the throne should he face an untimely death, he understands that he has to trust his War Council and army to keep them safe.
When the enemies breach the walls, and it becomes clear that the end of Musutafu and the Bakugou name is near, Kirishima takes matters into his own hands and barricades them into the throne room. If they are to die, he intends to make the most of the last moments of his King's life and his own.
As blazing fires encroach on them, bringing with them the final hours of their lives, Kirishima shows his King, in more ways than one, exactly what his role as The King's Hand entails.
