Venti’s ears, and consequently his whole posture, perk up at the Traveler’s invitation.
“Like I said before, I have no liking for crowds.”
And just like that, Venti felt himself falling from the sky—just like a lead balloon.
“I must remain vigilant of evil attacks, especially during the holidays. I will continue my patrol as usual.”
Venti already knows that is the case—that Xiao would go nowhere near the hustle and bustle of the Harbor, with or without the festivities.
Yet, hearing the Yaksha say his plans out loud… He couldn’t help sighing and becoming more deflated as he already is.OR, Venti realizes that a Lantern Rite Date with Xiao isn't as clear-cut as it seems; Xiao is in a state of perpetual confusion and discovery; and both are figuring out what to do with themselves and each other.

A name appears in his mind: Venti. It should be three in the morning for him right now. He hopes he’s asleep.
Ganyu hands him the bag. He unties the top, looking for any sort of message. He finds it scrawled on the inside of the container, written in a neat, quick hand.

But as he unhinged his jaw each time, a figure bathed in light weaved themself within the dreamscape. They blended in every shadow, watching him, urging him to ungrasp the final terrors of his victims.
And when Xiao encountered this phantom before him in the waking realm--smiling with his ivory wings and twine braids--he couldn't help but believe the figure of nightmares was more of sweet dreams.
