My Uncle told me this story, when we went camping a few months ago. I've done my best to transcribe it here, but fair warning, don't read if you're easily spooked. I changed names for privacy reasons. He told it to me late one night, It was just me and him left by the fire, everyone else had retired to their tents. Admittedly, I'd been pestering him all day about it, after hearing him mention something offhandedly on a hike. In any case, here it is
