It was normally perfectly silent this time of night. Viktor often stayed until the wee hours of the morning, Jayce staying with him when lost in his own projects or ideas. Most of the academy left by dinner, and even Sky would never stay later than 11 or 12 at night, mentioning the importance of being well rested when considering brain development and productivity. Yes, at this time of night, there was no more than the tinkering of metal, the scratch of pen and paper, or chalk and board.
Right now, however, the whining keens and low moans released by Jayce from the corner of the room were practically echoing throughout the entire room.
