There was no one Wei Ying could think of who would be knocking at his door at 3:00am, so he did what any reasonable person would do: he grabbed a frying pan, pressed his ear to the door, and once he was satisfied that there was only one person on the other side, opened it as fast as he could, prepared to strike the potential burglar down with no mercy.
He was not prepared to see Lan Jingyi on his doorstep, bloodied and bruised, trembling and cradling his right wrist, dried tear stains streaked across his face.
Jingyi stood barefoot in a tattered white t-shirt, blood stains soaked into the collar. It was the middle of Winter and the boy wasn’t wearing a coat. He wasn’t even wearing shoes.
“Wei Qianbei,” the boy cried as he shivered in the winter air. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know where else to go...”

Summary
In an effort to get his council to stop forcing the marriage issue on him, Jiang Cheng decides to scare them into submission by marching into Cloud Recesses and proposing to the First Jade of Lan himself. It's a brilliant plan really and there's no way Lan Xichen will do more than laugh at the joke. The council will shut up, Jiang Cheng's marriage annoyances will stop, Jin Ling will get to enjoy some snow, and everything will go back to normal.
So to say he's unprepared for Lan Xichen actually accepting his hand in marriage is a bit of an understatement.

(A slightly silly au wherein Jiang Cheng refuses to back down, Lan Xichen has a sense of humor, and Jin Ling is a spoiled ball of sunshine. Just wait until Wei Wuxian comes back to life and hears about this.)

"Hanguang-Jun, Senior Wei would like us to tell you that he can't stop crying and he'd like for you to do everything he says until he's better." There's a moment of silence, and then Lan Congyi says to Wei Wuxian, "Hanguang-Jun says he already does everything you tell him."

"Mm," Lan Wangji says. He raises his arms so that Wei Wuxian can keep undressing him. His clothes will end up on the floor, but no matter. Wei Wuxian's deft hands at his belts are worth wrinkled robes.
"... Goodness, Hanguang-Jun, you wear too many damned layers," Wei Wuxian tells him after a while. "Would it kill you to stop after a reasonable five?"
