“And everyone is so old,” Tubbo complains. Somehow, without them knowing about it, Tubbo’s managed to swipe a waffle and is chewing on it happily. Sapnap stifles a laugh. “Well, not everyone, I guess- the kid in our room is our age, I think. He might be younger.”
Wilbur perks up. “Does he ice skate?”
“Yeah, he does. He’s got these sick skates and everything.” Tubbo explains. “He’s quiet though. We tried talking to him, but…”
“But?”
Tubbo shrugs. "He's quiet. He doesn't talk much. I guess he's busy."
or, Tommy's made it to the Olympics for figure skating- he's the youngest contestant on the ice and he's the favor for the gold. He's supposed to be living the dream. So why is he still so unhappy? And why do all these hockey players and snowboarders care so much about him?

Summary
The claws on Phil’s fingers could probably shred Wilbur’s skin to ribbons. Instead though, his touch was as light as could be as he cupped Wilbur’s face, thumb brushing his stinging cheek.
The scales were rough, but didn’t scratch him. If anything, his hand was blessedly cool against the heat on his face.
“Why is only this part of your face red?” Phil asked, his voice low.
Wilbur couldn’t remember the last time someone had cupped his face like this. The last time anyone had been gentle like this with him. It took all of his willpower not to melt into Phil’s hand.
“One of them hit me,” Wilbur admitted softly.
or, Wilbur is the cabin boy on a pirate ship, at least until the ship sinks and he's left marooned on a deserted island. It's just him, the few others that survived the wreck, and the waves to keep them company. Well, and the merman. Because apparently those things are real.
or or, being marooned on an island isn't too bad when you get a found family out of it.

Summary
“I didn’t hurt him,” Techno huffs, glancing back at Tommy who was still pinned under his hand, “Don’t worry, Phil, I won’t hurt the baby.”
Tommy splutters at that, trying to free himself from Tehcno’s hold.
“I am not a baby—“ He exclaims, but Phil sighs, resting his hand on his forehead.
“I know, but I can’t help but worry,” Phil says, ignoring Tommy’s shouts as he cups his face, shutting him up, “He’s so new still, so weak and small. He really just needs to be in the nest for a couple decades more.”
Or Tommy, after making a deal with Phil, adjusts to his new life in the Antarctic Empire.

Summary
“The point is that you won’t find me,” Tommy said, wriggling in Phil’s hold a bit as he realized that they were in the den. Again.
Phil chuckled and nuzzled Tommy’s hair. “You claimed me as yours, little kit,” Phil reminded him with a soft smile. “I won’t apologize for claiming you as mine in return.”
Tommy growled unhappily but Phil only smiled benevolently down at him. He walked to the edge of the bed where Tommy now saw Techno and Wilbur curled up amongst the blankets, sleeping soundly.
Phil slowly lowered Tommy down between the two boys who immediately wrapped around him, tangling their tails with his.
Tommy stared up at Phil— not really knowing if he was glaring at the man or if he was pleading for mercy— who reached down and brushed a lock of hair away from his face, his expression sickeningly fond.
“I will always find you.” Phil whispered
