In his cell in Sugamo, Tokyo, Yonoi patiently awaits his execution. He places a hand on his heart, on the pocket where he used to keep something precious, a memento of someone special, which he has now entrusted to another. Many years ago, he also kept something similar there, belonging to someone else, though he left it long ago in a hibiscus field.
Those two people, no longer in this world, haunt his thoughts these days.
Yonoi suspects they will accompany him until his death, and perhaps beyond.

To his surprise, Jack doesn't need to prod further. Yonoi narrows his eyes, but hands him the pot cigarette, which in the sunlight can be seen to have indeed been physically altered: The symbol has been delicately covered with some kind of ink that replaces the sun figure with that of a five-pointed leaf. Quite creative.
"Speak," Yonoi says, stubbing out his own cigarette and drinking water from one of the canteens.
Jack watches his long, beautiful throat as he drinks, and even though he's just finished drinking, he suddenly feels thirsty.

Kendall nods, solemn. “Death by firing squad.”
