Summary
Perhaps it should be concerning, how easy it was for Chuuya to let him into their life. They are fundamentally different in many ways, and their allegiances are pledged to opposite sides—Kunikida has walked in the light for his entire life while Chuuya lives contentedly in the dark. But despite their differences, there are many similarities between the two of them as well. They complement each other far better than Chuuya could have ever expected.
It was easy to let Kunikida in because Chuuya saw some of themself in him. And it was easy to let him stay because he wanted to.
There are very few people who stay in Chuuya’s life—whether by their own choice, or because they were taken away. But now, eight months after Chuuya kissed Kunikida for the first time, he’s still by their side.

Summary
It’s far from the picture-perfect ideal life Kunikida had planned out for himself, but…he’s realized that you cannot plan for everything. You cannot anticipate every attack, and just because life doesn’t turn out looking like you expected doesn’t mean you can’t find happiness anyways. He took both his own life and Yosano’s ability to heal for granted, and now he’s suffering permanent consequences.
But he also has support from people who understand.

Summary
Kunikida fiddles with the fabric. It’s mostly smooth, but the area at the palm is rough to provide extra grip. She slides them on, and immediately, the gloves hug her hands, squeezing. It’s not painful or distracting, just a sort of comforting warmth, like someone is holding her hand and massaging it constantly.
Not only does it take away the pain, it also steadies her hands, keeping her trembling fingers in place. The glove reaches all the way down to her wrists where she struggles to control the most.
It’s… amazing. He can’t believe he didn’t think of this solution himself.

Summary
Ranpo wakes up with a cough.
This, in itself, wouldn’t really be that big of a deal. However, Ranpo always tends to be quite dramatic about his ailments, so Poe finds himself running around the whole of Yokohama in search of medicine and groceries to get rid of whatever disease Ranpo came up with over the course of the morning.
By the time Poe gets back, Ranpo also has a fever.

He hated it, but it's clung to him for so long that he doesn't know how to live any different.
But this...
This was different.

Useless.
In his mind, that word is almost exclusively spoken in the headmaster’s clear, cruel voice, and with it comes a rush of remembered sensations, so vivid and all-consuming that Atsushi half-believes he’s back in the orphanage.
The ache of hunger, radiating out from his stomach and deep into the bones of his ribcage. The sharp, bitter taste of blood in his mouth. The strange but undeniable rhythm of a beating, the pauses and blows almost as metrical as music.
The agony of a nail pierced straight through his foot, the admonishment that he must learn to endure pain echoing throughout the room.
And then Atsushi can breathe again.
Because he knows.
He knows what he has to do to make this right, and the certainty and simplicity of it are oddly comforting. He just has to prove his worth. Despite his mistakes this morning, he isn’t useless.
He just has to show everyone exactly how much he can endure.
