Summary
Miles says something to a large man in a green jacket standing next to him, mouth moving mute from across the crowd, scowl stern as always. And then, his grey eyes flick to the side, and catch.
Surprise looks strange on his friend’s new face. His eyebrows fly up, one quirked higher than the other, eyes open wide, lips clamped shut in a tight frown. His entire posture somehow gets stiffer, more uptight and he swivels a little, to get a clearer look. Recognition and confusion and a strange fear pass over his expression, and his mouth opens slightly as if to say something.
Phoenix feels his lips twitch into an odd smile as lightning prickles down his spine.

Or, Red Hood is captured, Nightwing saves him and while helping him afterwards, puts the wrong puzzle pieces together and confronts him which does not go quite how he planned.

The Aristocats AU no one asked for:
Upper-class Miles Edgeworth is the guardian of three wards. He's expecting them to grow up into ladies and a gentleman, but he knows it's a losing battle. Kay talks out of turn, Sebastian is too absent-minded to be chivalrous, and little Trucy is too clingy to follow the etiquette rules of her new social standing.
When a work trip to meet Manfred von Karma leaves Miles and the children stranded in the middle of nowhere, Miles turns to local hotel pianist, Phoenix Wright, for help. Phoenix insists he can get them back home by cashing in on a string of favors along the way. A lot of people, apparently, owe their lives to Phoenix Wright.
As the four of them travel together, Miles learns to let go of his expectations for his children and unravels Phoenix's past, all the while knowing it was something sinister that led them to each other.

Following the aftermath of Hazakura Temple, Edgeworth builds up the nerve to confess his feelings to Phoenix, to his utter bafflement Phoenix reciprocates.
In an in-depth exploration of how a relationship would develop between them, watch as these two knuckleheads try to fit a relationship in their chaotic lives. As opposing sides of the court, they attempt to keep their relationship a secret for the sake of their reputations. Edgeworth goes through the events of the Investigations 1 & 2 while overcoming his hiccups with intimacy. Phoenix’s saviour complex and caginess build pressure as Maya and Pearl move away, leading up to the events of Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice. Trucy (chapter 8+) loses her whole family and gains another, weirder one.
For Phoenix, Edgeworth and Trucy, taking care of each other is rotten work but by god they’re going to do it.

Porter leisurely snaps an arcane lock onto the office door. He stops and looks back at Jace. In the moonlight seeping through the window, his face is wrought half of flesh, half of shadow. His eyes gleam bloody red as the sun.
Jace’s body throbs, a furious heartbeat head to toe. He tells himself it’s a faulty response, some pulse of magic from the shatterstar in his chest. He tells himself that it’s not the sense-memory of straddling Porter’s thigh two nights ago, biting his mouth open till it turned the same shade of rage-hot red.
“If someone finds us here, I’ll break their spine,” Porter says calmly. “And you’re certainly welcome to watch. Now, how do we draw this circle?”

"What the fuck," Jace whispers, and stumbles over to his desk. The scarf claws its way free from his neck and tumbles to the floor.
His clothes are shredded; he can see that now. Claw marks have opened up the crochet weave of his overcoat, the purple silk of his shirt. Whatever happened in the Mountains isn't important, though. When he presses a hand to his breastbone, it's scabbed over with raised flesh, burning red-hot as a furnace. The edges of something sharp and striated hit his fingers, jutting upwards. A rage crystal.
"What the fuck," he says again. The words come out cracked and shrill. "What the fuck - Porter, you did it to me? What the fuck!"
"I honestly don't know why you're so surprised."

Jace comes back to life, angry and raging and unwilling to contain it.
Porter is fine with this turn of events.
