Then his phone is buzzing. Just this once, Dazai begins to wonder who it is. Since most of his coworkers appear to be gone or heading home, he sneaks a peek at his cellular device. On it is a location drop to a familiar bar from a certain slug. Should he go? Would it make things worse to go there? Dazai doesn’t know. His sour expression must have given away his mood, or maybe Yosano smells it on him. Either way, she rounds on him with her interogation, “How’s your party birthday boy?”

Taking on Atsushi wasn’t in Dazai’s plans. The very boy taking on Kyouka wasn’t in Dazai’s plans. Finding a new reason to wake up every day wasn’t in Dazai’s plans. So many people refuse to let him die, which is very annoying. But.. maybe that’s what it’s all about. Perhaps this is why Odasaku wanted Dazai to become a good man. Dazai was bound to die brutally in the Port Mafia. You can’t trust anyone there. Dazai doesn’t know how he ended up trusting three people. His mistake.

Summary
Were they planning some sort of celebration? Why not tell him? Unless... were they planning a birthday party for him? Ugh, that would be exhausting, but... well, maybe it could be nice too. Throwing yourself off a bridge is easy once you’ve already tied a noose and tried that route. Fun fact! When you fail to hang yourself, you still live! Unfortunate. So, perhaps you should take your chances with a bridge. Drowning is easy; people do it every day! Tragically, that one always fails too. He bought a guide, and somehow he’s horrible at the one thing he actually wants to excel at. He is skilled. He is a genius strategist. Yet, he can’t even plan the perfect death. This flirting with his desire to end it all, is rather tantalizing. No matter the performance he plays, the one played in the end is himself. By himself. By life. A cruel prank.

Summary
Where are we left to fall, if the ground has covered us before we can sink down to its’ level? Dazai ponders this very question, sitting at the grave of a very beloved Oda Sakunosuke. Perhaps, such a question can be taken literally, if one thinks of the deceased. Dazai has bled for this man, but once more, anything he would never want to lose is always lost. It is a given that everything that is worth wanting will be lost the moment he obtains it. Best not to have anything at all. He scratches at the dirt of the grave.
