Returning home for the first time in twelve years to the news that her mother is dying, the last thing that Lena wants is to run into the childhood best friend she hasn't spoken to since she left Midvale all those years ago. Especially when said friend was the reason Lena swore she'd never go back home again.
Still harbouring the sting of teenage love and rejection, as well as the pressure of her unsatisfying career and resentment towards her mother, Lena's life is brought to a halt in her hometown as she's forced to confront years of repressed feelings and the truth about what she really wants out of life while waiting for her mother to die.

Sam opens her mouth, and then closes it. Lena honest-to-god feels like she’s about to faint.

She’s perfect. Mesmerizing, really. And Kara’s about sixty percent in love with her. Which is inconvenient, because Kara is also too much of a disaster to do something crazy like introduce herself.
OR, Lena sponsors a youth center, and Kara works there. OR, Esme is an unwitting and unrequested wingwoman, Kara and Lena fall in love in less than five minutes, and they’re both incredibly useless but Lena hides it better.
It would be great if they didn’t meet because Kara heard her laugh for the first time and got so flustered she smacked her forehead against the door of the cupboard she was rifling through, searching for googly eyes, but alas. You can’t have everything.

Enid returns home to San Francisco where she comes face to face with a mystery centered around her. There she finds out what it means for a wolf who shifts for the first time while under the blood moon. Enid may just be more powerful that she thought.
If only her mother would stop setting her up with a potential mate as she deals with new revelations.
Good thing Wednesday is there to save the day, solve the mystery, and show a werewolf they stand no chance at winning Enid's affections.

And she’s taken aback, because it shouldn’t be this obvious. She shouldn’t know. No one was supposed to know. Well, Lena had just found out herself, with the warmth that took over her chest last night when Kara didn’t think twice before hugging her by the waist and tugging her closer.
Sometimes, being ignorant was the best way of self-preservation. She lusted the moments before she knew, she lusted being able to put those thoughts back, to just be. Because now that she knew, she couldn’t unsee it.
There was something on Eliza’s knowing smile that almost made it too easy blurting out the truth, blurting out that love was too little of an emotion for what she felt. But she knew better than that.
“She’s my best friend.” The words sound wrong to her ears, they taste bad on her tongue. “Of course I love her.”

Lena hadn’t particularly liked the song when she had first heard it, thinking it was just another over-produced piece of ‘80s bubblegum-pop. But as Kara’s low voice croons the simple words in the still of the night, her fingertips brushing over Lena’s hip and her breath warm against her shoulder, Lena finds herself reconsidering her stance.
She just might have a new favorite song.
