To Jude, speaking is dying - he tried to speak, once, and the result had felt like death. The memories of what he and Erling once were permeate his mind, lodged into his very soul, even four years later. Jude doesn't want to have to speak and die again-but without Erling, he feels like he's been dying every day, anyway.
Now, Erling seems set on finally speaking, but he's never learned how to without dying, either. With the England versus Norway game looming, all he can do is hope that it isn't too little, too late.

"Harry, please," Erling pleaded, his tough facade completely shattering as his voice broke entirely. "Just tell me. Are they mine? Are they mine and Jude's?"
Harry stared at the giant striker, watching the sheer, agonizing desperation bleeding out of him. Harry opened his mouth, closed it, and let out a long, defeated breath.
"For Christ's sake," Harry muttered, throwing his hands up in surrender.
"Yes. They are yours, you absolute idiot. They are yours and Jude's. Now will you shut up before Theo tries to eat another sugar packet off the floor?"
Erling froze. The world around him completely stopped spinning. His jaw went slack, his breath catching entirely in his throat as the words echoed in his ears. They are yours. Yours and Jude's.
Before Erling could even process a single syllable, Jobe burst out laughing, slapping his knee as he pointed a finger straight at Harry.
"Are you mental?!" Jobe cackled, shaking his head in absolute disbelief. "You actually just told him! You absolute idiot, you just spilled the entire secret like you're reading off a grocery list!"

"Lose my number, Erling." Jude surprised himself with the bitterness in his tone. Erling's expression didn't change, a muscle in his jaw ticked slightly, but that was all he let Jude see. "If you act like this over a football match, I can't be that important to you anyway."
Erling's expression didn't change that time, either. The pain in Jude's chest grew.
"Maybe not," Came Erling's answer, tone flattened again. Walls up. Jude scoffed and shook his head, laughing in a way that was completely devoid of humour. A stark contrast to every other laugh he'd shared with the older man.

Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland were two footballers playing for Borussia Dortmund, both desperate to convince themselves their friendship is platonic. Once they realise there is far more than friendship between them, can they admit it, to eachother or even to themselves?
Fear, football and misunderstandings keep them apart, their connection pulls them back together.
Slow burn romance starting in 2021, with years of plot on the way.
You don't need to be into football, or even know who the players are to read, it's a story of two footballers falling in love against the odds, fighting social pressure, internalised homophobia and the media.

But the whistle blows and Jude falls to the ground.

There, in all his glory, stands Erling. His alpha, with comfortable clothes and a knowing semblance. With open arms and the bond pulling at Jude to run and be hugged by them. The only one able to understand the mess of emotions his brain is tangling after a brutal defeat.
For a moment, Jude doesn’t move. His eyes scan, glassy once again, everything beyond him until the haziness prevents him from doing so. Until his bottom lip trembles, his hands are numb and his inner omega preens under his alpha’s attentiveness.
“Love,” Erling says, and it’s all it takes for Jude’s resolve to crumble.
