Summary
Dr. Dean Winchester, professor of Mechanical Engineering, was full of confidence in his own abilities when he decided to purchase a fixer-upper house to rehab and remodel on his own. Now, standing in the middle of his new house and praying the floors won’t cave in, he’s realizing that determination and academic brilliance might only take him so far this time. The bigger problem: his overconfidence in the face of other people’s doubts (ahem, Sam) means that asking for help now will mean swallowing a whole lot of pride…and he’d rather not.

Right before the shop closes on Christmas Eve, Dean shows up in dire need of Castiel's magic touch. Although Dean is totally, completely, unquestionably heterosexual – when Castiel confesses he's feeling lonely, and then tries (and fails) to hide a boner, Dean refuses to be the heartless Christmas-ruiner who'd let a friend go home unfulfilled.
