"“Why, Gui? What do I owe the surprise visit? Did something happen?” A soft, gentle voice whispered. Dr. Baizhu. Gui sputtered over his words, caught off-guard, before clearing his throat and looking at the older man.
“No! I mean, no. I closed it for the night as always, I merely… came to, um.” He kept fumbling over what to say, trying to find some way to not come off as weird to the man. Baizhu blinked, studying Gui for a moment before laughing softly. Ah. What a dangerously lovely sound.
“Oh, dear, did you come to check in on me? The note I presume, yes?” The doctor smirked as Gui nodded, “Well, I’m immensely flattered. Come in, come in. It’s so cold out there-” As he opened the door wide, leaning against it."
