"Evan. That’s Buck’s first name, his real name, and Eddie knows that, but he’s known him as ‘Buck’ for so long that it feels… strange, to hear him called anything other than that. Eddie only calls him Evan for emphasis, like when he told Buck he wasn’t expendable. Maddie only uses it when she’s trying to be serious. But usually, almost always, in fact, it’s just Buck. The 118 calls him Buck, his girlfriends all called him Buck, hell, even Buck calls himself Buck.
Maybe that’s why Eddie found it so weird that Tommy kept saying Evan. Not Buck. Not Buckley. Evan. And maybe that’s why Eddie kept trying to subtly correct him."
