“Nope” Steve pops the p as he leans forward and drags the bracelet around Tommy’s wrist leaving it loose enough Tommy could slide it off if he wanted as he ties the knot. “The box said they’re best friend bracelets and you’re my best friend.”
“Carol kept hers.” Tommy points out but he grabs Steve’s hand before he can pull away wrapping the one he made for Steve just as loosely, the colors almost match except there are a few strands of purple weaved through Steve’s because Tommy knows he likes purple. “You’re my best friend too.” Tommy tells him, grinning a little nervous. His bracelet is not as tightly woven or as neat as the one Steve tied around his wrist.
“It’s so pretty.” Steve gushes and Tommy preens delighted, grin splitting his face wider as Carol comes back in the room. Her own smile fades as she notices the bracelets on their wrists, Tommy's fingers just finishing the knot on Steve's.

"Yeah, that's about right," he said, eyes not meeting Eddie's. "I know it's a little out of the blue but–"
"'Out of the blue' is my Grammy nomination after being snubbed for years in a row. This is batshit crazy, man."
When Steve finally looked up his eyes were shiny and Eddie was under the impression he'd gone too far.
"You're right, I'm sorry. Didn't mean to upset you."
Great. Now Steve was sad and Eddie did that. Way to go, champ.
