Ambessa tapped her cheek, seeming pressed by the cryptic nature of his words. “Speak, boy, or I will recant your status on time wasted alone.”
He curled his hand into a fist, leaning on the battle axe pressed into the floor.
“Your Majesty, I ask this and only this: that you surrender me to the service of Prince Viktor as His Highness’ sole, personal guard.”
The room went quieter than the faintest whisper, more stunned than a stolen breath.
“...Come again?” Ambessa asked, her voice severe.

“It’s not that I avoid you, I just see no reason for us to speak. We do not share classes, nor are we in the same clubs.” Viktor stirred his coffee slowly, picking up his cane as he turned to walk back into his room.
“Funny you consider hiding out in the library for days a club.” Jayce huffed a laugh as he cracked an egg into a skillet on the stove.
Viktor stopped in his steps, just barely in front of his doorway, and turned to face Jayce. “I do not care for your humor, Jayce. I do not wish for us to be friends, and I do not intend to become closer to you solely because we are roommates. As long as you stay out of my hair we may stay on courteous terms.” And with that he walked into his room and closed the door behind him with a soft click of the lock.

He pushed up off the ground, settling Viktor between his raised knees. Crumbling spires loomed above them, peaking through the fog like grasping hands. They sat in the ruins of Zaun, with what remained of Piltover creeping above them.
After the events of the finale, Viktor and Jayce wake up in the alternate timeline where Jayce originally met the older version of his best friend. Together with the alternate version of Viktor, they'll have to find a way out of this timeline before it ceases to exist.

Jayce didn’t come to teach at Piltover University to develop a minor (read: major) obsession with Viktor, but here he is. The man is infuriatingly brilliant, dryly condescending, and has probably already dismissed Jayce as an overeager idiot. Fine. Jayce can live with that. What he can’t live with is the fact that he keeps seeking Viktor out anyway—asking too many questions, reading too many of his papers, lingering in his presence like some lovesick grad student. This isn’t a crush. It’s an intellectual challenge. At least, that’s what he’s telling himself.

There, he meets Viktor - a slightly older, respected and extremely reserved colleague of his. Jayce is somewhat intrigued with the man, his studies in particular. Summary
Viktor claws into the earth, fingers raw and digging into the wet sand and stone as blood fills his body. Drawing first breath is an overwhelming, blinding sensation, salty air blooming in his lungs, brushing against his bare skin, scrubbed raw and burning against the sand and salt.
As far as resurrections go, it’s not his favorite. Gentle waves roll over him but the tide is neither cooling nor forgiving, it licks at his skin like the blade of a knife, and the grit of the sand against his bare flank burns like open flame. Nakedness seems to remain an unfortunate mainstay of birth.
The warm arm clinging to him burns like hot iron, singing his flesh. “Viktor?”
Jayce winces and attempts to uproot himself from the ground, face contorting the way it often would when he was particularly hungover. “We’re alive?”
It’s not a question meant to be answered. Jayce was there when Viktor built them new bodies, ripped through the universe to hold them to the mortal plane, and sewed new flesh out of the dirt and stardust.
Viktor thought he had been ready to die.

Summary
Viktor had expectations. He expected that those born and raised in Piltover would look at him differently. He expected that the combination of his social status, accent and disability would cause him grief at the Academy. He didn’t expect to be assaulted on his second week though. And he definitely didn’t expect a top sider to come to his rescue.
Or: Viktor hates that his first meeting with Jayce was embarrassing so he closes himself off, but that’s hard to do when you live together.
