This is a re-write/expansion of a Flight oneshot I originally wrote back in 2011.
The group is in Oerba, right before their trip to Eden. Fang and Lightning spend the night together, sharing everything they're unable to say out loud.

Fang's lips lingered right beside the woman’s ear as she whispered. “Stay with me tonight.” It was a request, but had a slightly demanding undertone to it.Lightning's eyes closed and her breath hitched in her throat in the few short seconds it took for her to answer. Once her mind caught up with what her body was telling her to do, she nodded shyly. “Okay.”

Julia clicks it, then immediately yanks her hand away from the computer, as if that would undo what she had done. Nothing happens for a beat, and then two, and then a trademark red hat appears on the blank screen, followed by a stream of words:
I KNEW YOU’D CATCH ON ;)
Julia blushes despite herself, and then a real email appears across the screen, one she’s positive belongs to Carmen. She briefly considers the weight of her next actions, but before she knows it, she’s adding Carmen to her contact list, and emailing her (with a new personal but somewhat disguised email, of course).
OR;
Julia is a very cautious person, she swears. But maybe, when Devineaux starts getting emails about his cars extended warranty, there's more to it than meets the eye. And just maybe, she'll figure out whatever the hell Carmen means in each message.

(To be fair, it begins before the train. It begins in Poitiers, when she watches from the ground as a woman in red glides off of the rooftop and into the night. It begins when she walks into what seems to be a museum of stolen goods; art and artifacts considered lost by the collectors and archeologists of the world. She finds the diamond, and more things besides, and La Femme Rouge escapes with something. Devineaux is spitting fire, but Julia is intrigued.)
