Derek had always been protective of Avery, but did not realize just how suffocating he had been until it was too late. Left with mere moments to decide, he gives up his freedom to allow his 'brother' to have a chance to finally live his life however he wants to. And be whoever he wanted.
But will this comforting notion be enough to help him adapt to this new way of life he's been forced into?

Derek wakes up but.. he shouldn't have. He should be dead, an eternal prison for the King. But something's happened, whether a curse or a miracle, He's alive. and so is the King. At first he thinks that this is the end of it, just the rest of his life with an annoying voice and a headache.
Until he finds out just how deep this all goes, and how connected Avery truly is to all this.
Now with the begrudging help of the god in his head, he has to find a way to stop this mad cult, all while trying to find a way to save himself.

It had been a couple weeks since that dreaded day. The day Derek had stumbled into that cave, the day his curiosity had become his undoing. 2 weeks, 5 days, 12 hours, 45 minutes, and 30 seconds, To be exact. He could still remember that day, he’d locked himself inside his home, an endless well of voices circling him at all times. Past, present, future, all of it trying to make room inside his skull to a point he felt like it was going to burst. The following days were no better.
By a week. He couldn’t take it anymore, he needed to get away from that cave, from everything. He took everything he could carry, and left eastward. Since then, he has yet to find much relief.
He should be dead. All logic points to that fact, and at times Derek wants nothing more. But He will not allow that to happen. For what is a king, without His knight?
