Ilya leant forward into the face off, eyeing Hollander as he did the same.Something was wrong.
Shane wasn't moving like usual. Something in the way he turned, stopped, gripped his hockey stick even. Ilya cleared his throat,
“Going to lose again tonight Hollander? What's that, third time in a row?” He quipped. The ref shushed him and Hollander said nothing, not even raising his eyes to meet Ilya's gaze.
It irked Ilya to no end.
“A hat trick of losing, good for you,” he couldn't hold back the chirp.
Look at me.
Shane finally raised his eyes, and Ilya felt a chill down to his bones. His dark eyes held none of their usual warmth, even when angry with Ilya there was always fire. Now they were blank and lifeless.
Every hair on Ilya's neck stood on end.
That was not Shane Hollander.
