Clear wine flows from a jar.

It pools into a shallow cup as pure and white as a newly blossomed lotus.
“Or maybe, none of them do?”
The moon hangs high in the sky. Silver rays filter in through the small window of his cell. The half filled cup is pushed under a gap in the steel bars.
“After all, who can stand in the face of the cruelty of time? Without the company of his dear friends… Is that last one really the same?”
Reflected in that cup is the silvery moon, wavering slightly as ripples spread across it.
“Tomorrow, you will leave this place, never to return.”
He does not touch the cup.
The man standing outside his cell lets out a sigh. He downs the rest of his wine in a single gulp before turning to leave.
“Remember to take care of yourself.”
“...”
Now alone, he picks the cup up. The moon inside it is round and bright, seeming so close yet so far. A thousand meaningless images flash before his eyes.
He puts the cup to his mouth and drinks.
