Song Lan could wrap his hands around Xingchen and tug as hard as he wanted, and Xingchen would not necessarily budge. But when Song Lan takes a step down the road-- fuchen tucked neatly in the crook of his arm, one hand firmly behind his back, chin tilted confidently-- Xingchen will always take a step to follow. Song Lan needs not even to think of touching to pull Xingchen along with him.
