Fifty-six year old Emmrich Volkarin is highly experienced and renowned as a forensic pathologist. He prides himself in his eye for detail and his empathic perspective on the dead.

The investigation takes them back to a past that was rather left forgotten.

Summary
His wife — wife, the word was beyond sweetness on his tongue, and Emmrich repeated it in his head like a prayer to the Maker — looked up at him and smiled. Her hair was already coming loose, and he reached out to brush it away from her face like one would touch Andraste incarnate, dumbfounded and awestruck.

Summary
Altus Mira Mercar has spent her life performing with flawless technique, trapped beneath the expectations of her powerful noble family. A celebrated violin prodigy, she is entered into the prestigious Archon’s Centennial Duo Competition, a stage where reputation, lineage, and perfection matter as much as music itself. Her assigned partner is Professor Emmrich Volkarin, a famed pianist and scholar whose brilliance is undeniable, though his humble standing makes him an unexpected and controversial match for an Altus of Mira’s rank. At first, their partnership is defined by contrast: Mira’s polished restraint against Emmrich’s soulful, emotionally rich playing. But as they rehearse, argue, and learn to listen beyond the notes, their music begins to reveal what neither of them dares to say aloud. As Mira and Emmrich slowly fall in love, their bond threatens everything society has arranged for them. Mira’s family’s ambitions, her unwanted engagement, and the rigid class walls of the Tevinter Imperium. Together, they must decide whether love is worth defying tradition, and whether two hearts, resonating in perfect harmony, can create a future stronger than the world trying to silence them.

Summary
"If you would rather I leave, if you wish to try and wait it out then I will do so - you can lock the door behind me and I will make sure that you are left alone for however long you require," he felt her shiver even as her face turned into his hand, lips parted as she breathed in his scent. "Or I can stay and I will give you what it is that your omega so desperately needs."
She said nothing, her breath warm against his palm.
"You must tell me what it is that you want, Rook."
