You’d think George would feel relieved. He finally has protection. He’s finally being treated right. But all he feels is a crushing weight. He feels like Atlas, eternally condemned to bear the weight of the sky. It presses down on his shoulders, digging into his shoulder blades and pushing the bone into tender flesh.
Or, George needs a knight. What he doesn't need is Dream, a constant thorn in his side.

Two days of the year are the ones that are the most difficult. On these days he can’t move; he’s stuck in the middle of everything. He can’t go back and change what happened, he can’t move forward from it. He’s stuck thinking about it, playing their last moments together on loop like a never-ending movie of torture.

"Dream?" he asks, eyes not opening and the other man hums in response, confirming the presence wasn't a fever-induced hallucination. "Come closer."
Dream immediately takes him up on that invitation, their limbs readjusting so the bigger man can hold George in his arms instead, and the brunet feels his heart melt in his chest. Dream pulls George even closer after a while, pulls George's head to his chest and George's leg moves to slot nicely between Dream's.
George feels this has to be a dream, some evil delirious hallucination taunting him with all his wants and needs. He's wanted this for months, years even before he admitted his feelings to his best friend and he's scared, not being able to tell if this is real or not.
or, george's first day in florida is ruined by the fact he's sick, but dream doesn't mind, he's just happy george is finally here.

It only took a few minutes of focused longing for a dark forest green car to pull into the steep driveway. George smiled to themself, snuggling into the blanket as they watched the driver's side door open after a moment and they saw a tall familiar figure race through the rain and up to the porch.
Dream was home.
They were too comfortable to move from their spot, so they stayed put, watching the sky darken. His body ached from staying in one position for so long but he ignored it’s protests.
Only when the door creaked did they turn their head to watch his lover peek his head through the opening. George offered a weak smile, trying his best to look okay. He was rarely ever just ‘okay’ at this point.

Fortunately though, Dream loves him a lot, takes excellent care of him and George can't help but melt against him every time they touch.
