Summary
Seven plagues have shaken the world and caused it to crumble. Humanity put up a fight at first, but then money become worthless. Polite society collapsed when infectious, headless demons started roaming through city streets. Without communication and electricity it's hard to make sense of this new world. No one knows how to survive, but everybody that groups together always ends up dead. Society cannot rebuild itself. Loners have a much better chance of survival.
Rachel becomes aware of this very early on, so she tries to live out her life as a hermit. She hordes supplies and locks the door behind her, but then something breaks in.
