Summary
A million statements, questions, and apologies beg to be voiced. He wants to tell Connor how overjoyed he is to see his dorky face. He wants to ask what possessed the android to find Hank after all the shit he put him through. He wants to say how unimaginably sorry he is, fall down to his knees and shake his clasped hands in a shameful bid for forgiveness.
“Where the fuck have you been?”

Summary
“There must’ve been foul play… but why go through the trouble of rescuing a dead man- especially in this weather- when it would’ve otherwise gone unnoticed?” Connor rambled before a particularly violent bout of waves threw the boat off balance, forcing the android to scramble backwards to avoid face planting into the evidence.
“Guilty conscience, maybe?” Hank offered. “And get out of that damn boat before I have to go fishing for my partner,” He joked, although Connor could detect concern laced in his tone.

They’d probably take one look at him before calling the police. Whether they lay eyes on his LED, the blood soaking into his white shirt, or both, he does not want the precinct to get involved.
Especially Lieutenant Anderson.

Summary
Hank taps Connor’s cheek with his thumb. “Eyes on me, Connor. I need you to say something fucking coherent right now. Do you know where you are?”
Connor’s gaze stutters about, roaming over random spots.
“Garden.” The android’s voice trembles. “I’m… ‘m stuck…” His words slur, and Hank could feel the heat smothering his speech as Connor exhales.

Summary
It's months before Connor realizes that the damage to his regulator never fully repaired from when it was torn out and thrown across the room. It's months more before he realizes how hard it is to live with system damage that just gets worse, and worse, until he can barely work, or smile, or think-
But it's fine. He doesn't need to ask New Jericho for a replacement part. Really.
He's fine.

Summary
Connor paused, frowning. Hank was right, of course. Despite myths that androids didn’t require rest or sustenance at all, androids did need regular replenishing of their thirium supply to replace what was absorbed into their joins or pump. A quick scan revealed his supply was running below optimal levels. “I am still functional, Lieutenant. I am not in urgent need of anything.”
Hank eyed him uncertainly, before giving up and dropping into his chair. “Whatever you say, kid. Wake me up once you’re ready to clean up.”

Summary
There's a certain stillness to the aftermath. It's a quiet, mundane consistency, like the universe is giving them room to pick up the pieces, to try and establish a sense of normalcy.
To figure out what normal means, now.

Summary
Tina squinted against the soft rays of sunlight seeping in, holding her hand up to block the worst of it. All around the station, detectives and officers alike sat slumped in chairs or yawning. She herself yawned at the sight, eyes watering. "Hey. Tina. Hey. Hey."
She rolled her eyes and swiveled her chair to face Chris, rubbing her eyes and only realizing she was smudging her eyeliner mid-rub. "Hey yourself, Mister Bright-Eyed-and-Bushy-Tailed." Another yawn. She swore she could feel part of her soul leaving her body. "Just because you're used to late nights doesn't give you the right to be so happy right now."
