Summary
He could feel the pounding headache, the burn in his lungs and his organs failing him one by one.
But he couldn’t think about any of that.Thinking meant slowing down. And slowing down meant dying.
He had to keep walking, until he was the only one still walking, their winner.
Then they would all see him for what he was: the best. Better than all the other boys.or: Barkovitch and Parker are the last ones walking in the Long Walk.

Gary Barkovitch is not alone by choice. Not entirely anyway.
He's wanted people of his own, but after being mauled his whole life, he snarls at the smallest show of teeth. What happens when he meets someone who teaches him not to bite?

Summary
Gary Barkovitch is one lonely son of a bitch. Going to University out of state did absolutely nothing to change him at all. He was still abrasive, hostile, and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. And he tried, he really did try. Or at least that's what he tells himself. It's also what keeps him awake at night (or at least one of the things), causing him to take long walks outside of campus grounds during the dead of night. It's dangerous, he knows, but let's be honest; if something happened to him, nobody would lose sleep over it.
or; Gary Barkovitch learns to give a shit about himself and also finds his community and falls in love with a certain someone in the process.

Summary
“It’s clearly something.” Collie counters, elbows on his thighs as he leans forward. “And seeing how you were pretty much gagging for me to hit you, I think I deserve an explanation.”
“Fuck off, I wasn’t it’s just —” Gary starts up instinctively, words dying off when he remembers he doesn’t know how to explain as much as he just doesn’t want to. He swallows dryly. “Nice.” He finishes lamely. “It’s nice sometimes.”
Collie is quiet, and then, “is it a sex thing?”
“I’m going to kill you.” Gary says flatly, burying his face in his hands.

Summary
Collie isnt quite sure when the shift happened between wanting to paint the ground with Gary Barkovitch's face, and wanting to bundle him tight and keep him safe, but he's pretty Garraty is at least partially to blame.
Actually, the whole thing was Ray's fault.
