It’s the same every goddamn time. Always the same. Every time.
He evaded the bullet shot at him, now knowing Cheng Xiaoshi was about to appear in front of him. He’d take the bullet for him, he’d fight Vein off just long enough to escape with Lu Guang into the darkroom, and he’d die in his arms all over again.
Always the same.
The gun pointed at his head, and he heard Xiaoshi clap from the other side of the room.
Fuck it. If he can take a shot for me, I can take a shot for him.
Due to Lu Guang's interference, Cheng Xiaoshi survives this time, however with a fairly permanent side-effect.

“Lu Guang, you—” he stopped himself, then looked up with the most pathetic looking puppydog expression he’d probably ever had on his face. “No way, right? You said you don’t want to travel, and—and, you’re afraid of flying, and—”
“Aa.” he made a sound as he kept typing—You don’t get to leave unless I’m coming with you.
“I just didn’t think you’d want to—” he stared down and felt his entire face heating up. Fuck… His head is so messy. He stumbled a couple steps forwards and fell into Lu Guang’s arms again. “Okay.” he sniffed. “Please come with me.”[Xiaoshi's head has been messy lately, and taking a trip across the globe in search of his parents doesn't help. He finds out Lu Guang and him might have something in common after all when he finally reaches his limit.]

Cheng Xiaoshi is not a quiet sleeper.
Which is a pretty convenient excuse for Lu Guang to take the top bunk, claiming the mumbling, tossing and turning, the jolting awake would wake him.
Really, Lu Guang appreciates the leverage, the ability to check on Cheng Xiaoshi whenever his nightmares pull him from sleep. Appreciates being allowed to count his breaths and imagine his heartbeats as he takes in Cheng Xiaoshi's mumbles and steady breathing.
He hadn't appreciated it enough, in their first timeline. Had taken the soft breath and subtle creaks for granted.
OR the bed sharing fix I wrote in a manic haze after watching the Bridon Arc that is likely miles away from canon

Step 4: Accidentally fall for said tutor, who looks like he hasn't smiled since dinosaurs went extinct.Cheng Xiaoshi didn't plan on catching feelings. He just wanted to pass statistics so he wouldn't get benched from the basketball team. But now, he’s plotting regression equations and calculating the trajectory of Lu Guang’s perfect shoulders— and one of them is certainly his preferred variable in this equation.

Well, he’d managed to get into the most prestigious university…in Bridon.
Eight thousand kilometres away from Guidu, and he barely spoke the language. Yet he had to complete a nursing degree in English.
