Picking up where the 1992 film left off, Nathaniel and Cora deal with respective losses, grief, and the joys, challenges, and dangers that arise as their love develops and they move forward with a new life together with Chingachgook. Old bonds are strengthened and new ones made as they discover the true meaning of family and deep, sacrificial love. Nathaniel/Cora centered with Chingachgook and others, and some curious Uncas/Alice elements and moments. Some background filler/explanations based on the J.F. Cooper books. As Nathaniel, Uncas, and the Colonial militia prepare to send Munro's courier to Fort Edward to request reinforcements, and the militia subsequently plans to leave the fort to protect their families, Nathaniel is also deep in thought about the piece of blue silk he carries with him for shooting patches, and his feelings for the woman who gave it to him.
