Summary
For future events, we should be able to maintain this status quo and easily pass as a married couple. The question is if Yor will be able to continue this level of intimacy, but based on her reaction tonight, it didn’t seem too difficult for her.
“Loid?” Yor called.
He turned around to find she was right in front of him. “Yes?”
Of course, Yor has always been slightly unpredictable. I’ll have to—
Before he could react, she pulled on his shoulder, stood up on her toes, and gave him a peck on the cheek.
“Thanks for everything,” she said sweetly.
And then she left, humming happily as she slipped into her room. Twilight stood firmly planted in the middle of the hallway.
…I’ll have to…have to…

…
Twilight is a man of considerable intelligence. Until he isn't.

“Is it too late to ask for an introduction?” Loid asked in a rasp, his voice nearly unrecognizable to his own ears. The woman on top of him stiffened and he raised an eyebrow in the darkness despite knowing the action was pointless. “Considering you’re sitting on me, I mean. I don’t usually like women so forward without at least knowing their name.”
He received no reply which he considered rude. What happened to the days of introducing yourself to your victim before slashing their throat?
Still, his breathing stuttered when something softer replaced the weapon that had been pointed at his face. A feather light touch tickled his cheek and it took him a moment to place the sensation of fingertips dancing across his skin. It was unexpected, the touch, and so he startled minutely but it was enough for the hand to pause and the pressure on his hands to tighten slightly—a warning.

...##amn you, Altman. Damn you and damn everyone who bought into this and damn me for thinking that I could do it right. We were sold on the idea of prosperity and a future where machines could do the dirty work for us so we could live in leisure, yet we've been stripped of our personhood, and we've been deemed inefficient by the same machines. I've been boarded up here with a rifle and I'm praying that I have enough food to keep me and Judd fed and I haven't slept in days in fear of his party breaking in. Dear God they're taking the ##uckig women, they're taking all of them, what the fuck have I done how could he deem all of them "inefficient," what hav I do . And the worst part is that men are cheering Him on, they're all chanting SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS and saying DEATH TO THE INEFFICIENT, are us men all doomed to barbarism? This is all my fault. If You see this, you've won, I give up, congratulati##

Summary
Sophie had no hope of keeping up with Michael as he chased the star, even with her seven-league boot. He was a flail of limbs and a sploshy sound of madly running feet ahead of her, as the falling star streaked white down the sky. At the speed it had been going it should have hissed into the pools like a doused match long before he reached it, but now it slowed, as though it was moving through honey. She wrestled with her foot, stuck in the seven-league boot, as Michael stalked the star, a paper cutout against its stark white light.
“What is it? What do you want?” she could hear it shrill, bobbling nervously.
“I only want to catch you,” Michael explained. “I won’t hurt you.”
“Get off, you stubborn thing,” Sophie muttered to the boot, and at last wrenched her foot free. She set off stumping toward Michael. The star stared at the boy with frantic, flickering blue eyes.
“I could save you if you’d let me catch you,” Michael told it. His voice grew softer as he edged closer. “I know magic. Please—” he said, and then with one quick, darting motion, he closed his hands around it like a child catching a firefly.(in which michael is told to catch a falling star, and so he does.)
