Batman stiffened as his heartbeat ratcheted up. Clark glanced at Batman in astonishment. He didn’t think he’d ever heard Batman’s heart do that, and he had fought by Batman’s side in a myriad of life-threatening and potentially world-ending situations.
“Wait, the Red Hood?” Barry skidded into the alley with them. “The beheadings guy?”
“Wait, what?” Hal said. “Beheadings? Who the hell is the Red Hood?”

Pink, is his first thought.
Bright, fairy-floss pink. A color Satoru knows in every one of its variations, in sunlight and moonlight and complete darkness, all of them burned into his brain. A precise shade he’s only ever seen on one person.
Startled brown eyes peer at him from less than an inch away—two pairs of eyes, living brown with specks of ruddy red.
They used to be gold, those specks.
“You’re fast,” says the thing with Yuuji’s face made older and Yuuji’s eyes turned stranger. It smiles, the expression unspeakably alien, unbearably familiar. “Are you like me then?”
“Yuuji,” Satoru breathes, even though it’s not, it’s not— “Yuuji.”
All four of those eyes widen.
“You know my name,” it says. “I’m sorry about this, but who are you?”
Satoru loves a boy to death. He comes back wrong.

Summary
“We need to talk about Yuuji.”
His heart skips a beat. The fear returns.
“Is he okay?” She'd told him Yuuji had survived, why wouldn’t she have mentioned it sooner if there was something wrong—
“Physically, he’s fine. But you have to remember, he lost everyone that he was close to. You, Fushiguro, Kugisaki, Nanami, and Choso. He hasn’t been handling it well.”
Satoru purses his lips. Emotionally then, that’s what Shoko meant. He’s not great with feelings. “Ah. Okay.”
The silence stretches, and he fights not to fidget. She isn’t bringing this up for no reason, so he just has to wait her out. Shoko doesn't make him wait long, and her eyes sharpen as she says, “You’re going to have to be there for him.”
Post battle, Satoru wakes up to find himself in a strange world where no one is acting the way he expects them to, especially not Yuuji.
