“Holy shit…” Shane murmured softly.

He shifted his gaze then, looking down toward the pair of large brown eyes at his feet. They stared up at him with just as much affection as Anya’s had, but it was clear there was something else there too. Pleading. Desperation. An unspoken question.
Ilya shook his head and gave the other dog a small smile. “I am sorry, shchenok, but you know the rules. Only good pups are allowed on the furniture.”
In truth, Ilya wasn’t sorry at all — he knew the pleading was all an act. His pup was exactly where he wanted to be.

Head hung in shame, Troy crossed the room towards where Shane stood. “Here I am,” he said softly. “You can let me have it. I deserve it.”
“Troy, what is this about?” Harris asked, his voice full of concern.
Before Troy had a chance to reply, Shane was speaking again. “You know all about social media, right Harris? Have you ever heard of that one… Shit, what’s it called? Tinder, or something?” Shane asked, not taking his eyes off Troy.
Harris’ eyes widened in horror. “Tinder?!”
Oh shit. Troy was pretty sure he’d heard of that one. “Tumblr!” he corrected quickly. “It’s called Tumblr!”
“Oh right. Tumblr,” Shane corrected himself with a small shrug. “The geeky one.”
