“Oh, come on, Scott! It’ll be fun! There are soooo many choices in stores now!”
Scott grumbles under his breath. “Sure, it’ll be fun,” he mutters. “It’s just not the same as having fresh humans at the snap of a finger.”
Shelby sighs, shaking her head. “Oh come on, I’ll show you the meat aisle! It could really help with your whole ‘trying to be a vegan vampire’ thing. Or at least as vegan as a vampire can be, that is.”

Or, Shelby and Drift show Scott a modern supermarket. Scott gets overwhelmed by all the choices.

Summary
A hand on his shoulder. Fangs in his neck.
His voice trembles. He doesn’t care. “NO! GET AWAY FROM ME!”
The grip doesn’t loosen. Another hand clamps around his waist.
Legundo twists, desperate to see who it is. Some part of him already knows. He just wants to know it isn’t the vision of an afflicted brain.
Owen stares back, blood dripping down his chin.
“What are you playing at?” Owen whispers, his voice dangerously low. A shiver runs through Legundo before he can stop it.

Drift tilts her head, already smiling. “Shelby. What game?”
“Truth or dare!” Shelby announces triumphantly
Cleo gets up, muttering something about “doing it properly,” and returns with a gleam in her eye, getting up to grab something from a cabinet as she does so. “If we’re going to play,” she says, pulling open a cabinet, “we should make it interesting.” She places a silver dagger in the center of the circle. The metal glints under the torchlight.
“It was originally used on prisoners to force the truth out of them,” Cleo says casually, like it’s something you see every day. “If it points at you and you choose truth, be warned that once you start talking, you won’t stop until the full truth is out.”

It's 2006, the 100 year anniversary, and the survivors plays truth or dare with a dagger that won't let them lie. Everything unravels from there.

Summary
When vampire hunter Avid sets out to kill the infamous Scott, he never planned on surviving the encounter, much less becoming part of the world he swore to destroy. What began as a hunt quickly spirals into obsession, alliances, and the kind of intimacy that blurs the line between monster and man.
What starts as one bad decision becomes a chain reaction of desire and guilt.

Or, Avid insists that vampire hunting would be easier if the vampires weren't hot, manipulative, and emotionally confusing.

Summary
Owen isn't an idiot. He knows that if Scott finds out he's basically a newborn in vampire terms, he's going to take the easy meal and kill him. So, he lied-said he had been alive 200 years instead of in a state of unconciousness for 200 years. Hopefully Scott buys it.
Scott knows Owen is full of bullshit. No Sire would let a fledgling that young out of their sight at 200 years old, let alone out here. He thinks he's roughly 300, and is lying to make himself look like less of a threat.
Scott and Owen have a truce-they both stay out of each other's business and don't kill any humans. But for some reason, Owen is so, so hungry. And animal blood isn't cutting it.
Scott, on the other hand, is a little concerned at how bad at vampirism Owen is.
