“Okay.” Sam turns around, and Dean’s eyes are shifting back and forth like a pinball machine. Dean only looked at Sam for a fraction of a second, long enough to see that the only thing Sam was holding was the edge of the table. He sat down on the edge of it, letting it support him and the Texas-sized weight of what he was about to do.
“How’s the leg?” Sam asked, appearing genuinely worried. His intent to distract Dean was evident, but Dean gave into it anyway.
Dean’s chest swelled and his breath hitched. “Okay…” he managed to stutter out, but his eyes were still fixed on something that isn’t there.
“Okay.” Sam repeats. His calm tone does nothing to calm Dean’s heart. “I don’t need to tell you what to do, right? Take off your pants and lay down,” he says as he reaches to grab what’s behind him.
