"Everyone in the centre needs to be ready as soon as we arrive," Hopper ordered on the other end of the transceiver. The sounds of his engine going well above the speed limit muffled his authoritative, steady voice—such voice that Mike knew held hidden panic, as Hopper always dealt with crises well.
"Joyce and Sinclair will be okay…Sinclair’s arm is broken…"
A screeching interrupted the man, the car tires, presumably, against the road.
"The Byers kid…" A pause, and Mike swore he could hear Joyce’s soothing, pleading voice in the background, repeating a word which sounded very much like a certain boy’s name who Mike was deeply in love with.
"With the amount of blood he’s lost… we’re gonna need a miracle."
Mike’s spine ran cold at that.
AKA: Will is put in mortal danger and Mike goes feral.

"For one," Mike sighs, propping onto one elbow to look at Will properly, "Holly definitely has a crush on you."
Will squints, just barely, lips curling up in amusement. It takes Mike an excruciatingly long time to detect what exactly Will thinks of this matter, but what comes out is soft, mellow, and not particularly to Mike’s enjoyment: "That's kind of cute."
“It is not,” Mike hisses, and Will shoots him a grin. “She always talks about you, always giggles whenever you talk to her, and because she's like, incredibly adorable, and you’re so good with kids, I'm going to be trailing behind you guys like an absolute loser because she totally hogs you.”
"Wait," Will blurts, brows drawing close. "Are you jealous?"
Mike Wheeler is many things, but he is never jealous.
Except — maybe this time he is.

“Well,” Mike shrugs, swallowing hard in a desperate attempt to soothe his very, very dry mouth, “I don’t know why someone wouldn’t be interested in you.”
“Oh?” Will says, and it’s definitely teasing now, enough for Mike to feel himself turning warm, all down his neck and to the tips of his own – sadly unpatterned – socks. “Someone?”
“Yeah.” Mike nods. Oh, god. This is fine. “In a very arbitrary sense of the word. Just– people. Someone.”
Mike is approximately ninety-eight percent sure that his feelings are requited. That last two percent, however, has really been throwing him for a loop.
