Summary
A year after the end of the war, Dimitri and Felix have settled in as the King of a united Fódlan and his right-hand man. Duty has come first for both of them, even as they've been repairing their relationship, with Felix taking on some of the responsibility of looking after Dimitri, whose psyche remains fragile.
Everything is going very well, until a delegation from the Church comes for a state visit, and seeing Dimitri reunited with their beloved Professor-now-Archbishop pushes Felix into soul-sickness as he is forced to reckon with what he had--Dimitri--and what he's lost--also Dimitri. He's never truly known a world without Dimitri in it. He's always loved Dimitri.
And he will never love another.

He doesn’t like that his mom left him and his dad without a word of explanation years back, doesn’t like that Sylvain hangs up the phone without saying goodbye first, doesn’t even like it when Hilda starts sentences and doesn’t finish them because she expects him to know what goes in the blanks. And when he bumps into a man whose eyes make him want to use every ridiculously pretty word synonymous with the color purple, he especially doesn't like that when asked if he remembers him, the answer is no.
With a face like that, Claude doesn't know how he'd forget.

Felix almost laughs because, yeah, in a way. He takes a big breath and then looks at the ground. It’s hard to meet Sylvain’s eyes all the time, but now it’s even worse. “I’m….I want to be called Felix.”
“Felix?” Sylvain chuckles. “Well that’s a boy’s name.”
Felix is sure that his ears are on fire with how hard he’s blushing. “Yeah, exactly.”

Felix heaves a sigh and gives the man a withering look. He’s pretty much pieced this all together by now. “No. I’m right. You tore my door apart and broke into my apartment, thinking it was yours.”
The man shakes his head. “No, not that." He doesn't wait for Felix to express his confusion before he goes, "Oh my God, Felix? Is that you?”
