a quiet campus, playful persistence, and feelings that refuse to stay harmless.
riki is openly obsessed with jongseong, determined to be his man, not just the younger student who lingers a little too long after class. what starts as shameless flirting and teasing quickly turns into something heavier, something that refuses to stay light.
jongseong tells himself he knows better. he tells himself he is in control. he tells himself this is a line that cannot be crossed.
and yet.

All this time, you’ve loved him with all your soul, you’ve loved him enough to feel empty without him. Loving someone romantically isn’t just about the butterflies and nervousness, Heeseung.”
(The oldest two are up late after ENHYPEN’s reunion, and Heeseung unknowingly prods Jay into admitting things neither of them expects to hear being said, ever. Now that things are completely different between them, how does Heeseung even act around Jay anymore, when he’s so confused himself?)

Wow, Heeseung thinks, Maybe? Jay doesn't deserve someone who is so half assed about him.

Heeseung feels bad, embarrassed even, what the hell?
First of all, Heeseung is a very cool hyung who would never judge anything anyone does. Plus, Jungwon is his good friend and Jungwon would make a great lover, Heeseung is sure of that.
But Jay’s lover? No one will ever be enough for such a guy like Jay.
"What do you mean maybe?" Heeseung repeats lamely, a hint of judgement in his tone that they both ignore.
"Yeah, maybe I like him." Jungwon looks Heeseung straight in the eyes as he delivers the craziest line Heeseung has ever heard. "I think you like him more than me though, hyung."
And Heeseung's world stops in motion.

“I think we’re all forgetting our priorities,” Jungwon spits. “We’re filming at a music show tomorrow and as of right now, I can’t trust you two to be in the same room as each other,” he reminds everyone.
“My priority right now is him,” Jay shakes his head. Jake turns back to looking at Jay, and sees that he’s pointing a finger at Riki. “I need him to know that Jake didn’t mean it. Tell him you didn’t mean it.”
Jake can’t tell Riki that — it’s not true.
Or,
Jake bites Jay, accidentally bonding the two of them together. Damage control means that Jay isn’t allowed to bite back to complete the mating process: in six months, the unreciprocated bond will fizzle out and reverse itself from Jake’s end.
But until then… Jay is his alpha, whether or not either of them like it.
