Johannes Meijer expected nothing from this post—a punishment for a case gone terribly wrong, a fitting place for penance. Insulinde alone wasn't far enough; he is sent to the furthest edge of Revachol, to islands a mere breath from oblivion. But what appeared at first sight a simple murder drags him deeper. A woman who should not exist. An island once lost to the Pale, since returned.

Summary
In which Gandalf takes the touristic route to Hobbiton, and adds another member to Thorin's company. This is a retelling that combines the traditional adventuring plot of the Hobbit with a touch of yearning, comedy, and gay stuff.
This story, somewhat light-heartedly at first, but then more seriously, weaves elements of medieval Dutch mythology into Middle Earth. Think along the lines of Hope Mirrlees' "Lud-in-the-Mist", but gayer.
In this iteration of Middle Earth, elven people--prone as they are to delusions of grandeur--have split once more than they do in the canonical universe, and the marshy banks of the river Lhune have thus been populated by a small group of blue elves. These will have some effect on how Thorin's journey unfolds.
